To get to Assisi?

What should I expect to do on the first day of the course?

At 9 am we will give you some information about Assisi, the course, and the facilities offered by the school. The course will start acording the levels ascertaied by the online test and interview.

What is the calendar of the courses?

Beginners and non beginners start their course as listed on our  calendar. Please remember that the course lessons take place form Monday to Friday. To start your course on a Monday not listed on the calendar, please contact us.

Which method do you use in the lessons?

We use a communicativie and holistic method, our student-centrered approach makese students progress quickly and with a clear understanding of the intermediate learning steps. In addition to the coursebooks, we offer authentic material. Our courses are designed to give an introduction to Italian culture through literary texts, newspapers, films, works of art, songs, culinary traditions, all designed to give you a taste of Italian language and culture.  From the first day on, at all levels, only Italian will be spoken!

Is the teaching material included in the course price?

Yes, text books are provided by the school and are included in the tuition fee.

What is the teacher’s qualification?

Academy’s teachers have university background in applied linguistics or literature and have attended the teacher training program held by Prof. Angelo Chiuchiù.

Which certificates are issued by the school?

At the end of the course the Accademia issues an attendance certificate with the recognition of modules completed at Accademia.
Find listed below the credits issued for each kind of course:
1 standard course (80 hours in 4 weeks): 5 credits
2 intensive courses (120 hours in weeks): 8 credits
1 combined-course (100 hours in 4 weeks): 6 credits
1 intensive course (60 hours in 2 weeks): 4 credits

Credits are assigned after passing our final exam. In order to pass it, some extra hours of self-study are required. 

For U.S. students

As we are partnered with the Neumann University, students who take our 4 weeks standard course (80 hours) are eligible to receive Neumann University transfer credits (3 credits). Courses offered: Italian 101, 102, 201 and 202. The credits will normally be transferable to most American colleges and universities. Please find the procedures to follow:

– Please contact the registrar office of your University or College and ask whether they can grant credits for our courses directly.
– If it is not possible, you can enrol in our courses through our partner Neumann University.

Is there any insurance?

Students are not insured against illness, accidents, theft or loss of personal belongings either at the schools or at the place of accommodation.

What happens with a cancellation?

– 10 days before the beginning of the course: the course will be refunded 
– less than 10 days before the beginning of a course: a 70% of the fees paid will be refunded
– No refunds for cancellations after the beginning of the course.

If the Accademia is required to issue a formal resignation in order to apply for a study visa: 
– There can be no refunds/course date changes after the visa has been issued.
– The school will issue a refund of the tuition fee paid less 350 €, if a student visa application has been refused. The refund is available once the original visa refusal letter issued by the Italian embassy/consulate and the original documents sent to the student have been returned to the school.


Housing

Security deposit

The security deposit is 150,00 Euro and is to be paid in cash, when the keys are handed over. This amount will be returned in full at check-out, if there are no damages.

Info about the flat

Upon confirmation of enrollment, students who have booked a flat receive a description (photos, floor plan, distance to the Academy), and the owner’s contact information

One bedroom flat

Our accommodations are located only in the centre of the city. Max 5 minutes walking distance from the school. The flats are furnished and the kitchens are supplied with all essential utilities (cutlery, plates, pans etc.). Costs of heating and electricity not included and are to be paid according to consumption (average cost: winter 70/110 euro per month; summer 40/70 euro per month). The apartments are cleaned before your arrival. Bed-linens are provided. There is the washing-machine. There is no telephone in the flats, but you can access the free wifi access of the Accademia and use skype. Italy uses a 220 Volts/AC system. Plugs may differ from those in your home country and it’s possible that you need an adapter. Available for the period of one day before the start of the course until one day after the end of the course.

Upon confirmation of the enrollment, students receive a detailed description of the apartment with photos, plan, distance to the Academy, owner’s contact information and conditions.

Single or double room in a flat

Flats are located only in the centre of the city. Max 5 minutes walking distance from the school. Flats are reserved only for students of the Accademia. In each flat kitchen and bathroom are of common use, unless it is specified “with private bathroom”. Double rooms are available for two students who register together and ask to share a double room. The flats are entirely furnished and the kitchens are supplied with all essential utilities (cutlery, plates, pans etc.).

Costs of heating and electricity are not included and are to be paid according to consumption (average costs: winter 70/110 euro per month; summer 40/60 euro per month). The flats are cleaned before your arrival. During the stay, you and your flatmates are responsible for the cleaning of your room and of the rooms used in common (kitchen and bathroom). Laundry/bed-linens and towels

There is the washing-machine in the apartments. Bed-linens and towels are provided.

Transfer to the flat

You’ll receive via mail a detailed map and the owner’s contact information. For those who arrive at Assisi train station we suggest to reach the city centre by bus (there are buses every 30 minutes, ticket price: 1,30 euro, 2 euro on board) or by taxi (about 2 km, 15/20 Euro).  Taxis are always available at the train station (or you can call radio taxi Assisi +39 075 813100).


Facilities

Meals

Students who live in flats may want to use the kitchens and arrange their meals.
At the beginning of the course students receive our student card and the list of restaurants where they can have a either a two course meal or a quick meal (from 6 to 20 Euro).
