Arte e metodo

Arte e metodo is a series of texts dedicated to the teaching and learning of Italian. Each text focuses on one specific aspect of the language in the context of a more general linguistic competence. The title of this series reflects the authors’ opinion that teaching and learning a language is a science, whilst writing and speaking it is often an art.

Italiano in

Italiano in is in 3 flexible volumes, each containing 100 -120 hours of teaching materials. This can be extended by selecting relevant sections from other books in the “Arte e Metodo” series. Grammar is presented in concise tables, with whole sentences that make use of a varied and increasingly difficult vocabulary. Each section has recap activities and exercises on prepositions, as well as exercises aimed at reading skills and written production to help students to develop the necessary skills for university, academic and other specialist work. The cultural elements in each unit provide an understanding of aspects of life in Italy, but also give rise to intercultural reflection. Ogni volume di Italiano in (volume 1 A1/A2, volume 2 / B1, volume 3 / B2) è un testo modulare aperto che permette di ordinare, personalizzare, le varie tappe dell’apprendimento. La struttura flessibile di ogni volume-raccoglitore contiene materiale didattico per un programma di 100-120 ore di lezione. 
Le unità di lavoro di Italiano in permettono la comprensione della globalità dei messaggi contenuti nei testi e nelle tracce audio. Dalla comprensione generale del messaggio si passa all’introduzione delle strutture attraverso le esercitazioni dei cd. 
La presentazione della grammatica in tavole sinottiche permette di assimilare le strutture in frasi linguisticamente compiute, con un lessico vario e graduato. La sintesi grammaticale contiene una ricca sezione dedicata alle funzioni e agli atti comunicativi.
Ogni unità di lavoro contiene esercitazioni di riepilogo e specifiche attività sull’uso delle preposizioni. Inoltre, in sintonia con la ricerca didattica contemporanea e all’avanguardia rispetto a qualsiasi altro manuale, Italiano in propone in ogni unità di lavoro percorsi finalizzati alla lettura e produzione di testi scritti. Tali percorsi, incentrati su macrofunzioni dominanti, sono indispensabili per il superamento degli esami di certificazione e soprattutto per l’inserimento di studenti nei contesti italiani universitari, accademici e di specializzazione. 
Gli elementi di civiltà che concludono ogni unità di lavoro, oltre a garantire la conoscenza di aspetti culturali italiani, offrono lo spunto per una riflessione interculturale.

Grammatica e comunicazione

This book presents a series of synoptic tables which gradually and accurately introduce the grammatical and lexical elements of the Italian language to beginners. Each chapter then develops the points that have been covered to an intermediate/advanced level. The CD contains audio material to complement the phonetic sections. This text offers 23 sections to help improve written comprehension and production. These section are arranged into 5 groups: descrivere, narrare,esporre, argomentare & regolare.The authentic texts come from a variety ofsources, including articles, documents, poetry, extracts from literature. Guida all’uso delle preposizioni

This text is divided into 5 sections: 
1. 40 exercises, each of which has 30 mini situations which are ordered in terms of frequency of use as well as grammatical difficulty (the grammar needed is covered in “Grammatica e comunicazione”) 
2. 23 dialogues which present key exercises for communicating effectively in the areas where the prepositions are most commonly used. 
3. 23 “sai perchè” sections which bring together some linguistic curiosities to which further vocabulary exercises are linked.
4. Synoptic tables which provide a complete point of reference for the use of each preposition. 
5. Answer keys.

Incontri offers a choice of literary extracts by some of the greatest 20th century Italian authors such as Camilleri, Maraini, Vassalli, Baricco, Fo, Eco, Tabucchi and Benni. For each text there are comprehension and vocabulary exercises, and each unit provides ideas for written and oral productions. Sample pdf.

Prove graduate di profitto

This book of 16 graduated tests enables students’ progress to be checked through the parameters of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The tests are divided into 7 levels and are made up of 996 multiple choice exercises. Sample pdf.

Italiano in chiesa

A book designed for those in the Church who want to learn the Italian vocabulary used in religion. It focuses on prayers, hymns, the catechism, the language of the scriptures, the hierarchical structure of leadership and the main feast days and celebrations. An English – Italian glossary is also included. The accompanying CD has a recording of the first chapter (prayers).
