Do I need a visa?

Nationals of countries exempt from visa requirements for tourism: a visa is only required if the study stay exceeds 90 days. For stays of less than 90 days, entry is permitted without a visa, as tourists.

EU/EEA nationals and Swiss nationals: no visa is required.

Non-EU nationals who require a Schengen visa even for tourism: a visa is required, regardless of the duration of stay. For courses lasting up to 90 days, a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) is required.
For stays exceeding 90 days, a national visa (type D) is required, and a residence permit must be applied for within 8 working days of entering Italy.

Embassies generally require enrolment at the Accademia on a full-time basis, accommodation, health insurance and proof of sufficient financial means. Requirements may vary from one embassy to another.
